Description
In conjunction with our Natural Areas Festival is our 3nd annual Run for the Natural Areas 5K Trail Run at Winding Waters Natural Area. The Race for the Natural Areas aims to showcase the Palm Beach County Natural Areas.
Event Details
The course itself will be along a trail ringing the restored wetland offering scenic views of the teeming plant and animal life.
Our goal for the run this year is to have it a timed (chipped) event with awards & t-shirts, thus it will be paid event. More details soon!
Winding Waters is an over 500-acre natural area containing a diversity of habitats, such as mesic flatwoods, hydric hammock, depression marsh, wet prairie, and dome swamp. Several areas were cleared for agricultural purposes and have been restored to shallow-water and deep-water marshes. Birdlife is abundant with bald eagles, anhingas, green herons, belted kingfishers, wood storks, roseate spoonbills, and loggerhead shrikes making appearances.
Race Schedule:
6:45 am - 7:30 am: Bib pickup and race-day registration
7:30 am - 7:40 am: Start of 5K race
8:20 am - 8:30 am: Awards
