Description
Roger Dean Stadium is a multi-facility baseball complex located in the Abacoa community of Jupiter, Fla. It is known for being the only complex in the United States to host two MLB teams for Spring Training and two full-season MiLB teams, operating out of the Florida State League.
The stadium is the Spring Training home of the St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins, which share the complex annualy from mid-February until late March. The team's respective Class-A Advanced affiliates, the Palm Beach Cardinals and Jupiter Hammerheads, share the stadium during their Florida State League seasons as well.
Opened in 1998, Roger Dean Stadium has a capacity of around 6,800 people, two permanent levels of seating and a wide array of merchandise and concessions options. The complex also contains two fully equipped clubhouses for the respective Major League teams, along with practice fields, batting cages, training equipment and more.
The St. Louis Cardinals and Jupiter Hammerheads have occupied Roger Dean Stadium since it's beginning in 1998. The Cardinals shared the complex with the Montreal Expos until 2002 when the Marlins moved in, sending the Expos (now known as the Washington Nationals) to Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Fla. The Palm Beach Cardinals began play at Roger Dean in 2003, taking over as St. Louis' Class-A Advanced affiliate. The stadium is also home to the Gulf Coast League affiliates of the Marlins and Cardinals.
