We will discuss the cultural impact of athletes, as well as the nuances of working within an athletic department, including benefits and challenges of finding allies in treatment.
Our panel will address medical, psychological, and nutritional needs specific to athletes and guidelines for creating return to play policies.
Case examples will be presented to demonstrate the complexities of treating ED/DE in athletes.
The workshop will end with an opportunity for audience members to ask the panel questions.
Objectives:
Describe prevalence rates of eating disorders in athletes.
Summarize factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of ED/DE in athletes.
